The Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) at the Biogipuzkoa HRI was set up in August 2022 with the main purpose of fostering communication, dissemination and diffusion of the research developed at the Institute.
The Institute’s UCC+i Unit encompasses the activity of the Communication Department and the initiatives promoted on the subject of the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) Strategy, collaborating in coordinated fashion to spread news of science based on four lines of action:
-
- Communication of R&D&I results.
- General dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge.
- Providing advice and training to research staff on the dissemination of science and technology.
- Research into processes of bringing R&D&I to the general public.
The UCC+i Unit therefore has the backing of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), dependent on the Ministry of Science and Innovation, thereby implying recognition of the work to disseminate and communicate science conducted at the Institute, becoming one of the approximately 80 accredited centres in Spain.
Scientific Culture and Innovation Units (UCC+i) function as intermediaries between the institutions that host them and the citizens with the main aim of promoting the culture of science, technology and innovation, through different types of activities: scientific communication, dissemination, training, etc. They therefore provide a key service for improving and increasing the scientific training, culture and knowledge of the general public.
