Laburpena / Resumen:

DaDue to aging or disease, the skeletal muscle may degenerate and functional muscle tissue may be replaced by fibrotic or adipose tissue. In response to injury, a specific subpopulation of muscle-resident interstitial cells, the so-called fibro-adipogenic progenitor (FAP) cells seems to be responsible for the generation of the non functional (fibro-adipogenic) replacement tissue. In this invited talk, Dr Etxaniz will present her recent unpublished data where she has identified distinct subpopulations of FAP cells in skeletal muscle by single cell technologies.
